Creation vs. Alternate Reality

On Sunday mornings, I get to sleep in a bit. It’s usually sunrise when I get up, brew some coffee and have my morning prayer. When the weather allows, I like to sit outside for my prayer time. Watching the sunrise, hearing the birds, or listening to the rain always draws me to God. The scriptures for this Sunday morning were from Psalm 93, Daniel 3, and Psalm 148. Look and pray over these scriptures. They convey truth, they convey reality. All creation worships God: birds, beasts, oceans, mountains, “all earth’s kings and peoples”. Reality, all creation, worships the Creator, the Uncreated One. All natural and supernatural entities worship, and all these will bend the knee, to Jesus. This is Reality.

We live in a world that pushes counterfeit reality. Men are looking to screens hours upon hours a day. We watch videos nearly constantly. Social media is the farthest thing from actual reality –everyone knows this and yet we persist. Bing!....let me check with my alternate reality device. So if actual truth, actual reality, that of God’s creation bends the knee to God to whom does the mass of counterfeit reality bend the knee?

To self.

Plain and simple. Just like Adam and Eve in the garden. They were tricked to believe that their present reality – that of paradise in the Garden of Eden- was not actual reality...there was something else...a better reality. You know how it ended.... death. Let me ask you one more important question: Who pushes us to worship Self and not The Creator? Read the story of creation and find out. If you haven’t drastically reduced your screen time for Lent, what are you waiting for? Get in touch with actual reality, get outside and spend time in God’s creation and you will find God waiting and calling, helping to move you closer to His heart.
